Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced update 1.0.6 is now available, introducing a player-requested option to hide Edward Kenway’s blow pipe alongside a substantial collection of gameplay, quest and technical fixes.

The title update was released on 4 August 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its headline change is cosmetic, but several of the accompanying improvements address problems that could affect progression, parkour, naval combat and saved games.

Players can now remove the blow pipe from Edward’s visible outfit without losing access to the weapon.

The new Hide Gear setting can be found by opening the inventory, selecting an outfit and pressing R2. Players who later want the blow pipe to appear on Edward’s back can return to the same menu and select Show Gear.

This only changes the character’s appearance. The blow pipe remains usable while hidden, allowing players to retain its stealth functionality without displaying it across outfits where it may look out of place. The option was introduced following feedback from the Assassin’s Creed community.

Update 1.0.6 also fixes an issue that prevented Edward’s hood from being toggled during a Leap of Faith. Players should now have greater control over whether the hood remains on or off during the animation.

How Large Is the Update?

The download size varies considerably between platforms.

Platform Update size
Xbox Series X S
PlayStation 5 5.03GB
PC 3.7GB
Steam 1.8GB

The different sizes do not indicate that one platform is receiving more content. Patch sizes can vary because each platform packages, compresses and replaces existing game files differently. The official patch notes list Xbox Series X|S as having the largest download at 15.2GB.

More Autosaves Should Make Lost Progress Less Likely

One of the most useful quality-of-life changes increases the number of autosave slots from five to ten.

Having twice as many autosaves gives players more opportunities to return to an earlier point after encountering a progression problem, making an unwanted decision or entering a difficult encounter. It could be particularly useful in a large open-world game where missions, exploration and naval activities may occur between manual saves.

Ubisoft has also addressed a potentially serious problem connected to the “Diving for Medicines” quest. Under certain circumstances, players could lose autosave files after participating in the Upton Travers activity during the main quest.

Which Gameplay Problems Have Been Fixed?

Update 1.0.6 contains fixes covering land-based combat, stealth and naval encounters.

Players should now be able to perform leg sweeps correctly against enemies in attentive or suspicious states. Brute Elites have also been adjusted after an issue sometimes prevented them from charging towards Edward.

Other combat changes address rope darts becoming unusable after an interruption, guards reacting too slowly to hanging bodies and assassinations against drunk pirates inside smoke. A problem that allowed Edward to trigger a takedown while vaulting over an enemy has also been corrected.

Naval combat receives several improvements. Enemy ships should now cause damage when ramming the Jackdaw from affected angles, while Edward should more consistently turn towards the direction in which the player is aiming during sea battles.

The update also fixes minor crashes that could occur during both ground and naval fights.

Have Parkour and Fast Travel Been Improved?

Several movement and world-navigation bugs are included in the patch.

Players using a remapped control layout should no longer lose the ability to parkour when RT has been assigned to sprint. Edward should also stop sliding immediately after fast travelling to a synchronised viewpoint while sprinting and jumping down.

Location-specific problems have been addressed in Kingston, Havana and Mariguana Island. These include becoming trapped between a tree and wall, fast travelling to an unsynchronised viewpoint and entering an endless free-fall state near a chest.

A missing warning message has also been restored when attempting to fast travel to a captured fort while Edward is inside a restricted area.

Which Quest Fixes Are Included?

The latter part of the official patch notes contains story and quest details that some players may consider spoilers.

Among the important progression fixes is a correction for “Mayan Mysteries”. Some players could previously be prevented from obtaining the Mayan Armour because a required stone had been collected before completing an earlier quest.

The update also addresses James Kidd becoming idle during “Overrun and Outnumbered”, the Royal African Ship unexpectedly sinking during “Vainglorious Bastards” and an objective disappearing after loading a save during the Upton Travers storyline.

Additional fixes cover unavailable Black Island activities, enemies failing to react correctly to sleep or berserk darts and players remaining stuck in combat during the “Templar Ships” quest.

What Changes Are Included for PC and PS5 Pro?

PC players receive a fix for cutscenes becoming locked to 30 frames per second when custom graphics settings were created from a Low preset.

Mouse-and-keyboard users should also no longer accidentally mark or unmark quest icons simply by selecting the Quest tab.

On PlayStation 5 Pro, the update corrects an issue where PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, commonly known as PSSR, was not properly enabled when the same account had first been used on a standard PS5 and then moved to a PS5 Pro.

What Else Has Changed in Update 1.0.6?

The patch includes smaller presentation, interface and audio improvements throughout the game. These cover assassination cameras, ragdoll behaviour, underwater lighting, missing sound effects and visual gaps in the walls of Nassau’s fort.

Clipping involving the Hellion Armour cape during strong winds has been addressed, while Arabic interface alignment and Simplified Chinese readability have received corrections.

The update also restores a missing tutorial explaining how to throw money and fixes DLC notifications appearing unexpectedly when beginning a new game.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store. The remake expands Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure with updated graphics, new story material, revised gameplay systems, dynamic weather and additional quality-of-life features.

Update 1.0.6 does not radically change the game, but the combination of cosmetic customisation, additional autosaves and progression fixes should make Edward’s Caribbean journey more stable and flexible.
